Piano trios: Smetana, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Saint-Saens?

I posted a question about trios earlier, and after discussing with my trio members and our coach, we have narrowed it down to either Smetana, Beethoven Op. 1 No. 3 in c minor, Mendelssohn c minor, and Saint-Saens F major. I really like the Smetana but it sounds really difficult. Anyone know anything about these pieces and their difficulty level? Which would you suggest and why? Thanks.
